Cold Brew & Homemade Vanilla Cream Recipe

day210

I designed the cover of this book. I can now say I am a published designer! But seriously, ladies, you need to go to Amazon and order Lu. right now. It will change your perspective of Christian fiction.

I’m also now addicted to cold brew coffee, thanks to my sister. It’s super easy to make and is way cheaper than Starbucks! So here is my recipe for this tasty summer drink:

Here’s what you need:
Coffee:
+ Pitcher
+ Cheesecloth or a dishtowel
+ Coffee grounds (my favorite is the Starbucks Sumatra)
+ Water

Creamer:
+ 1 pint of Half and Half
+ 14 oz. of sweetened condensed milk
+ 2 Tbsp. of Vanilla

Alright so for the coffee, my pitcher holds about 2-2.5 quarts so I do about 1 cup of coffee grounds in the pitcher, fill it with cold water and let it sit on the counter for 10-11 hours. You can also let it brew in the fridge, but it will take more time to brew.
Next you’ll want to get a large bowl and stretch your cheesecloth or dishtowel over it. Pour the coffee over the cloth to strain out all of the grounds. You can double strain it with a coffee filter after that, but I usually don’t find that necessary. Pour it back in your pitcher and stick it in the fridge! It’s good for about a week in the fridge, but mine never lasts that long…

For the creamer combine the half and half, sweetened condensed milk and vanilla in a container that you can shake when you want to use some. I put mine in a large mason jar!

That’s all there is to it! when you’re ready to have a glass, put some ice in your cup, pour in some coffee a little over 3/4 of the way full and then pour your creamer over it.

Enjoy!
